The Edinburgh Edit
where to eat, stay, and explore in Edinburgh
This time last year I was preparing for my first trip to Edinburgh! I had a conference in London and (naturally) decided to extend a few days and check another country off the bucket list. With the leaves turning and gothic architecture all around, EDI made the perfect backdrop for fall travels.
From pub hopping, to strolling through parks, and trying a new coffee spot everyday, I’ve compiled some of my favorite spots from a few days in the city!
P.S. We took the train to London after and it was so easy and actually a really scenic way to see the Scottish countryside. London guide coming soon!
The Fishmarket: classic fish and chips shop located near the water
Kora by Tom Kitchin: another amazing rec from a coworker
The Little Chartroom: upscale, fine dining
Alby’s: never made it in but super popular sandwich shop
The Milkman: coffee shop with a few locations
Dishoom: a tried and true favorite
Communique Wines: really cute wine shop
Kay’s Bar: charming pub we met the best people here
Fortitude Bakehouse: cafe / bakery with a few locations here and in London
Greenwoods: brunch spot

I visited Edinburgh end of October/early November and while we had rain one night and cooler temps, it was overall perfectly enjoyable autumn weather, especially for walking around all day, shopping, and sightseeing.
Edinburgh Castle
Arthur’s Seat
Calton Hill
Stillsautomat Photo Booth for a fun souvenir
Victoria Street is one of the most photographed streets here (allegedly J.K. Rowling’s inspiration for Diagon Alley)
Dean Village
Princes Street Gardens
Morning farmers market
Ghost Tour: we didn’t have time but this is supposed to be a really fun thing to do here
Viator Tours Link (earns commission)
**P.S. Watch One Day on Netflix (and be prepared to be emotionally distraught) before you go

I stayed at The Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel. Located steps from Princes Street and George Street, it’s an ideal home base for exploring both Old and New Town. The glasshouse courtyard was perfect for a morning coffee or a little nightcap, and there were countless cozy spaces to work. The breakfast dining rooms and food spreads are next level and there was also a really good mezze style place (BABA) in the hotel. The gym and spa were also very high end, and there was nothing better than ending a full day of walking around with a pre-dinner sauna/steam room sesh.
The best part though, was the Social Hour for guests that runs daily from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the BABA Bar and includes drinks (house wine, beer, soft drinks) at no extra cost.
