READER'S DIGEST 02
books that will make you want to book a flight
If you know me you know I love to read. Funny enough, I read the most 1) during the summer 2) when I’m on a trip. I fear this is because, 9 times out of 10, I choose to watch TV at night rather than read, but it’s my absolutely favorite pastime when I’m by the pool or at the beach. I cannot see my phone in the sun and the beaches in LA have no service so this is normally the time of year I crush my Goodreads goal.
With the summer travel season right around the corner, I figured it was time to roundup some of my favs from over the years. So whether you are in a book slump or are just looking for some fictional (or IRL) travel inspo, here are some of my favorite books that always make me want to book a flight —
NONFICTION
World Travel, by Anthony Bourdain
I love Anthony Bourdain, I love the writing style of this book, and I love the cover. I keep this on my desk because it matches my room lol but it’s the ultimate travel inspo book.
Atlas of Unexpected Places, by Travis Elborough
I was at a travel trade show in LA a few weekends ago and came across this book. Perfect for like a “10 min a day” reading goal, but I love all the anecdotes about niche / unique places around the world. Again, great for some travel inspo.
Room Service, by Micheal McGregor
Saw this in Lyle Lawson’s youtube video and I think it’s perfect as a gift, room decor, personal inspo, etc. Love the colors. Just ordered for myself!
Little Book of Lykke, by Mike Wiking
Ellee got this for me when I was in grad school and every time I reread it it takes me back to the time in my life when I read it for the first time — about to graduate, in the midst of the job search, gearing up to move to California <3. Just added this one to my TBR list as well.
How to be Parisian Wherever You Are: Love, Style, and Bad Habits, by Anne Berest
“In short, frisky sections, these Parisian women give you their very original views on style, beauty, culture, attitude and men”. Read before your next trip to Pariiiii
FICTION
Angels & Demons, by Dan Brown (read on your flight to Rome)
Honestly, We Meant Well, by Grant Ginder (read on the ferry to a Greek island)
Halfway to You, by Jennifer Gold
Malibu Rising, by Taylor Jenkins Reid
People We Meet on Vacation, by Emily Henry (bonus points if you are headed to Palm Springs anytime soon)
Recipe for Second Chances, by Ali Rosen (italian summer inspo)
Summer Ever After, by Jane Crittenden (read on your flight to Barcelona)
The Five Star Weekend, by Elin Hilderbrand
The Great Alone, by Kirstin Hannah (rereading this before I go to Alaska)
The Hotel Nantucket, by Elin Hilderbrand
The Unhoneymooners, by Christina Lauren (Hawaii beach read)
The Wedding People, by Alison Espach

COFFEE TABLE BOOKS & COOKBOOKS
Coffee table books (and cookbooks for that matter) make for a great bit of decor and are a fun way to remember a place you’ve been. I’ve also seen people using them as a wedding guest book for destination weddings - obsessed. As my coffee table and cook book collections have grown over the last two years — here are a few I am obsessing over:
HAPPY READING!
